Happenings: Earth Day Recycling

Texas State to mark Earth Day
with electronic waste collection

Texas State and PSC Environmental Services are joining to to celebrate Earth Day with the university’s third annual RecycleNow Electronic Waste Collection Event.

Computers, cell phones, printers, scanners, televisions, gaming consoles, VCRs, DVD players and a variety of other electronic devices will be accepted for recycling on April 16 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Bobcat Stadium parking lot. There is no charge, and the entire San Marcos community is free to participate.

The drive will not accept appliances, microwaves and household hazardous waste, and Texas State students, faculty and staff should bring personal items only. University-owned items must continue to be processed through the Central Receiving Warehouse.

Texas State IT Security recommends cleaning data from electronic devices using information at its website.

More than 20,000 pounds of items were collected last year.

Other Earth Day events at Texas State include the Aquarena Center’s fifth annual event.

  1. Great program! Students should also be encouraged to use reusable grocery bags rather than plastic shopping bags.
