The bustle of San Marcos slows as the temperatures rise and thousands of Texas State University students leave the city for their hometowns. But the bustle on campus continues as hundreds of new students — from toddlers to high schoolers — flock to Texas State for summer camps.

Creativity flows at Texas State summer camps, just as pure water flows from the San Marcos springs. Inquisitive young minds gather on campus each summer to explore their passions and discover new ones with the guidance of university faculty and staff. Texas State’s unique Aquatic Sciences Adventure Camp exemplifies this experience.

Texas State’s Outdoor Center offers Bobcats adventures out of bounds

Amid a beautiful campus and sunny days, it’s almost impossible to stay inside as spring approaches at Texas State. Luckily, there are many resources to facilitate outdoor activity provided by Texas State’s Outdoor Recreation Program — a fast and easy way to connect with campus and beyond in the great outdoors.

The Outdoor Center, located in Sewell Park, houses information about the program, offering students and faculty a direct path of interaction with Texas State’s beautiful surroundings. Among a wide variety of activities, the Outdoor Center provides access to regional and national outdoor resources as well as opportunities for trip planning and preparation guidance.

Additionally, the Outdoor Recreation Program is comprised of six main program areas including the RockWall Climbing Center, Sewell Park, Equipment Rental, University Camp, the GOAL Challenge Course and the Adventure Trip Program.

Happenings: Official Ring Ceremony

Official Ring Ceremony honors           gilded Texas State tradition

Texas State class rings are dipped in a fountain of waters from the San Marcos River.

With its unique design and rich tradition, Texas State University’s class ring represents a university experience like no other. Next week, Bobcat seniors are invited to share in the shining tradition and history of the Official Ring Ceremony.

Since Texas State’s founding in 1899, the university has passed its unique legacy to its students. The Official Ring Ceremony, to be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 30, in Strahan Coliseum, commemorates this legacy with the receiving and dipping of class rings as well as the opportunity to share the pride of the Bobcat experience.
