Texas State among winners
of statewide social media award
Texas State University-San Marcos has been named one of the winners in the Austin American-Statesman Social Media Awards for 2010.
Texas State is the only educational institution on the list of 25 winners, which was announced Thursday. An overall winner in the competition will be announced March 10.
Among others chosen from more than 350 submissions are the Abilene Convention and Visitors Bureau, the Fort Worth Opera, the Austin-based trivia app Qrank and the Texas Tribune online news service.
“What’s different this year is that organizations are winning,” said American-Statesman social media editor Robert Quigley in the story announcing the results. “Organizations are becoming adopters.”
The story noted that “The Texas State social media team is tops when it comes to using various social media tools to engage with students and the community.”
