If The Crown Fits…

What girl doesn’t dream of being homecoming queen?
Senior Emilie Phillips was ecstatic when she received an e-mail saying she had been nominated through University Ambassadors.
“It seriously brought tears to my eyes,” says Phillips, a recreational administration major from Brenham. “I have dreamt of being a part of homecoming ever since I came to Texas State.”
Voting takes place online Monday-Friday next week, and the court will be announced at the talent show Oct. 20.
Phillips has created a Facebook page to encourage her fellow Bobcats to cast their votes and help her fill the shoes of a queen.
If selected as a finalist, Phillips will participate in the traditional Texas State Homecoming Week events including the spirit rally, talent show dress rehearsal, talent show, kick-off rally, soap box derby, homecoming pre-game parade and the halftime show.
“I want the student body to see how much love I have for Texas State, and how proud I am to be a Bobcat,” says Phillips.
Regardless of the outcome, Phillips says she is “honored and blessed” at the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
The king and queen will be announced on Oct. 23 at the homecoming football game against Northwestern State.
