for Episcopal Diocese of West Texas

When he graduated from Texas State in 1978, he was just Gary R. Lillibridge.

But today, as one of four graduates being honored as distinguished alumni for 2010, he is the Rt. Rev. Gary R. Lillbridge, the bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of West Texas. He was named to the post, which oversees 90 congregations, 27 schools, 25,000 members and 200 clergy, in 2003.

Ordained as a priest in 1983, Lillbridge served at churches in Corpus Christi, Del Rio, Brownsville and San Antonio. In addition to earning his degree in education at Texas State, he earned his master of divinity at the Virginia Theological Seminary. He also has received honorary degrees from both the Virginia Theological Seminary and the University of the South.

  1. I remember Gary Lillibridge from Pat Neff Junior High. He was my only dance partner at the 7th grade dance. He was such a sweet guy, even then.
