Honors Program plans Oct. 27 celebration for Día de los Muertos
Texas State’s fourth annual Día de los Muertos celebration will take place Wednesday, Oct. 27 from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Honors Coffee Forum in Lampasas 407. Sponsored by the University Honors Program, this Common Experience event preserves and sustains cultural traditions as well as ties between the university and the San Marcos community.
All Texas State students, faculty, staff and the San Marcos community are invited to join the celebration. Grupo Ocotochtlí will perform folklórico dancing, San Marcos Mariachi Academy will provide music, and there will be plenty of traditional food, arts and games. Participation is free.
The Honors Program will display photos of lost loved ones at a community altar as part of the holiday tradition. If you would like to contribute photos for the altar, please bring framed photos to the Honors Program office in Lampasas 407. Contact the Honors Program at 512.245.2266 or email Michelle Sotolongo at firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
