Aviation Club puts on fundraiser to help local housing projects
Interested in an adrenaline rush this weekend?
In order to raise money for local housing projects, individuals may purchase a “discovery flight,” which allots a 20- to 60-minute scenic flight around San Marcos. Flights will take off from the San Marcos Municipal Airport.
There are two airplanes available, a two-seat Diamond DA-20 for a solo tour and a four-seat Cessna-172, which can accommodate three guests. Special rates for the fundraising flight tours range from $55 to $185.
Texas State Aviation Club president Brian Dierks said that a “discovery flight” with a Texas State Aviation instructor would count as hours toward a private pilot license if one chooses to sign up for flight training with Texas State Aviation.
Fuschak’s Pit BBQ and Sean Patrick’s Irish Pub also are sponsoring the event.
To schedule your flight, contact Aviation Club vice president Gerald Thiel at 713-560-3313.
The Texas State Aviation club is steadily growing with 15 members to date, and always looking for new faces. Interested Texas State students can learn more by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org or visiting the club’s website, www.flytxstate.com.
