City of San Marcos annual event
kicks off today at 6 p.m.
The “Sights and Sounds of Christmas,” sponsored by the City of San Marcos, opens at 6 p.m. tonight and continues through Saturday night.
Sight and Sounds is located in the San Marcos Plaza Park, at 401 E. Hopkins St., and last year it attracted an estimated 35,000 spectators to games, arts, crafts, rides and thousands of lights along the San Marcos River. Food ranging from Mexican to American to Carnival cuisine will be available.
Carnival rides have been set up for both children and adults, and there also will be an area dedicated as a trip back in time. Music performances, rock wall climbing and a model train exhibit also are in this year’s lineup.
Saturday’s events will include the annual Sights and Sounds 5K Run and Walk, beginning at 9 a.m. in San Marcos Plaza Park.
Admission to Sights and Sounds is $4; a four-day Fast Pass is available for $10, and children 10 and under are admitted for free. Fast Passes are available at the San Marcos Activity Center, Premier Cuts and the San Marcos Parks and Recreation Office. Gates open at 5:30 pm daily.
