Texas State graduate
going places with Gowalla

When Texas State graduate Ashley Cass was offered a full-time position as a campus and events coordinator for Gowalla, the location-based mobile application, she had no idea what was in store.
Since joining the Gowalla team in September of 2010, Cass has traveled to Palo Alto, Calif.; Boston; and most recently, Park City, Utah. In January, Cass and her team ventured to Sundance Film Festival in Park City, where they spent a week passing out “swag,” signing up new users and spreading the world about Gowalla.
According to Cass, traveling is only one of the advantages Gowalla offers employees.
“There’s a lot of other perks too, like a new iPhone, MacBook, awesome Gowalla bike and catered lunches. Can’t freakin’ beat that,” says Cass. “There’s also a candy drawer, which I get into way too often.”
Cass graduated from Texas State in December of 2008 with a degree in electronic media. Prior to working at Gowalla, she interned with Birds Barbershop in Austin.
She isn’t the only Texas State graduate working with Gowalla, either. Coworker Andrew Waldrup graduated in May of 2010 with a public relations degree.
“My co-workers are incredibly talented, funny, intelligent and kind of like family,” says Cass. “It’s motivating to work with people who are truly passionate about Gowalla.”
Gowalla encourages people to share their stories by checking-in to restaurants, events, music festivals, businesses – you name it – all with one click of a button.
“It’s really exciting to be a part of something that inspires people to travel, discover and connect with their surroundings,” says Cass.
