Around Campus: Texas State on YouTube

University contributing to growth
of online video content

When it comes to the Internet, video, it seems, is everywhere.

A recent study by digital marketing company comScore reported that in the United States, more than 88.6 million people watched online videos on an average day in December 2010.

In just over five years, YouTube has gone from a start-up to attracting more than 2 billion views a day, according to a report by ViralBlog.

A report last week indicated that YouTube is the most popular website among smartphone users worldwide, accounting for 17 percent of all mobile data traffic.

Universities and colleges around the world — including Texas State — are part of the video tidal wave. There are a number of YouTube channels with video about the university, ranging from the official channel to the Career Services Office to the Athletic Department.
