Music event helps increase
awareness of local talent

By Britney Munguia

The third annual Mystic Music Festival will be Saturday at the LBJ Student Center Outdoor Amphitheater from 5 p.m. to midnight.

Created in 2008, Mystic Music Festival was brought to life with the intention to promote and encourage musical talent in San Marcos.

The event will include live entertainment from local acts, including  The Ocho, The Organics, The Bayou City Outlaw Band, Aaron Stephen’s Band, En Route, No Strings Attached, Orquestra Ritmo, Olive Street, Valley of the Mariner and Wings Burn Away.

Fraternity brothers from the Gamma Phi Chapter of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia at Texas State University are the creators of the event, and hope to surpass last year’s audience of 150 guests.

George’s, Mazak Music, Dos Gatos Kolaches and Mochas & Javas are just a few of the sponsors for the event.

The event is free, and open to all students, non-students and San Marcos residents alike.

The event’s official Facebook page has announcements and updates.
