Women military support group
sponsoring event April 30
Grace After Fire, a national support group for women veterans, or those on active duty, in the reserves or in the National Guard, is sponsoring a resource fair April 30 at the New Braunfels Civic Center.
Admission is free for the event, which will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Participants are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items, or new or gently used women’s and children’s clothing.
A number of service providers will be at the resource fair, including the San Antonio Mobile Vet Center from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, Texas Veterans Commission employment and education representatives, County Veterans Service Officers, U.S. Veterans Affairs women’s health officials, United Way military outreach volunteers, college and university representatives (including Texas State), and the San Antonio Food Bank.
Activities will include mini workshops on health and employment issues, veterans’ benefits, money management, alternative medical therapies, family health and more.
Grace After Fire, an outgrowth of The Woman’s Heart crisis support services, was launched to serve women veterans from all eras and branches of service. More information on its activities is available at its Facebook page. It also has a project aimed at Texas.
