President Trauth selected for
Women of Influence award
Denise Trauth, the president of Texas State University, has been selected to receive the Special Achievement Award from the Austin Business Journal. She will be presented with the award during the 17th annual Women of Influence event, to be held next month in Austin.
Trauth began her tenure as President of Texas State in August 2002 following nine years at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, where she served as provost.
Trauth is a member of the Austin Chamber of Commerce Executive Committee and Board, the Board of Trustees of the Southwest Research Institute, the Board of Trustees of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges, and the Philosophical Society of Texas. She also serves on the boards of the United Way Capital Area Community, the Austin Leadership Forum, KLRU and E3 Alliance. She earned her bachelor of arts at the College of Mount St. Joseph in Ohio, her master of arts at Ohio State University and her doctorate at the University of Iowa.
The Women of Influence event, which has the theme “Central Texas Profiles in Power,” will feature industry leaders from throughout Central Texas. The goal of the conference is to identify, recognize and encourage outstanding women leaders.
“These women have something to offer the next generation of women leaders. They have made a difference in their communities, blazed new trails and are leaving a mark on Central Texas business,” reads a statement released by the Austin Business Journal.
The Women of Influence event will be 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 14, at the AT&T Executive Education and Conference Center in Austin. In addition to Trauth’s award presentation, Chris Plonsky, the women’s athletic director at the University of Texas, will be delivering a keynote speech on the topic, “Making A Stand for The Brand…and Those Who Steward It.” Those interested in attending can register online until Friday, July 8.
