Grupo Fantasma gives Latin groove
to ESPN’s ‘Baseball Tonight’

Grupo Fantasma, the Austin-based Latin funk orchestra featuring the talents of four Texas State grads, recorded a version of the theme song for ESPN’s weeknight show, Baseball Tonight. Grupo’s version entitled “Beisbol Tonight” started to air on ESPN last week and will continue through the season. Listen to Grupo’s version here:

Josh Levy - Saxophone

Gilbert Elorreaga - Trumpet

Kino Esparza - Vocals, Hand Percussion

Sweet Lou Holmes - Congas

Grupo’s 2010 album, El Existential, won a Grammy for Best Latin Rock, Alternative or Urban Album. Their 2008 release, Sonidos Gold, was nominated for the same award. Texas State alumni Josh Levy, Kino Esparza, Matthew “Sweet Lou” Holmes and Gilbert Elorreaga are all full-time members of the 10-piece ensemble.
