Bobcat Club rallies athletes to the
finish line with member support
By Catherine Harper
From the yells of cheerleaders to the fighting chants from fans, Texas State student-athletes receive encouragement from all sides during the game. Outside of games, Bobcat athletes receive encouragement and support from Texas State’s Bobcat Club, a scholarship organization that helps student-athletes pursue their goals.
The Bobcat Club brings together Texas State alumni, fans, former student-athletes, coaches and friends to provide current student-athletes with athletic and academic support. Through fundraising for academic scholarships, the Bobcat Club strengthens opportunities for student-athletes and the Texas State Athletics Department, as well as for the next generation of Bobcat athletes.
With each new year, the Bobcat Club continues to leap over new hurdles. This past summer, the organization reached its highest number of Bobcat Donors, members who contribute to scholarships. Their numbers continue to rise as the football season begins. The Bobcat Club hopes to achieve over 1,000 donors by the Texas State football team’s first home game on Sept. 17 against Tarleton State University.
Members and Bobcat Donors receive exclusive benefits for their help in making an impact, including: priority parking at football and women’s and men’s basketball competitions, priority seating at football games, connected news updates from the Bobcat newsletter and exclusive invitations to events.
The upcoming Sac ‘N Pac Pre-Game Reception, an event taking place before the Texas State home game Sept. 17, is among the exclusive events hosted by the Bobcat Club during the athletics season. The event will be held in the Bobcat Stadium End Zone Complex in the Sac ‘N Pac Room, with complimentary refreshments to rally members in support of the Bobcats.
The Bobcat Club also hosts fundraising events year-round to increase Bobcat donors and contributions for academic scholarships. The Bobcat Club’s annual Kickoff Luncheon, a fundraising event starting the athletics season, showed one of the largest turnouts to date this past August.
The 2011 luncheon included the announcement of the Bobcat Club’s annual “Bobcat Blitz” event, which encourages members to bring in new donors for a chance to win prizes. This year’s prizes included two premium tickets for home game seating in the Athletic Director’s suite.
With Bobcat Donor contributions and fundraising efforts, the Bobcat Club is able to provide current student-athletes with the momentum to carry their team-playing and academic goals to the finish line.
