The Veterans Alliance at Texas State (VATS) is sponsoring its third annual golf tournament on Friday, April 19, at Quail Creek Country Club in San Marcos. Proceeds from the tournament will benefit the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 3413, located in San Marcos.

“The VFW has a long history of supporting the surrounding community and providing veterans with a voice in local, state and national government,” says Jeremy Casselberry, a Navy veteran and president of VATS.

As a student organization, VATS supports student-veterans by providing camaraderie, networking and community resources for achieving academic success. Relationships formed between VATS members encourage academic and professional success. VATS’ outreach to the larger veterans community in San Marcos has similar aims.

“We hope to keep this [VFW] post open so that they can continue to help the community and the veterans of San Marcos,” Casselberry says.

The entry fee for an individual player is $40, and one-hole sponsorships start at $300. Sponsors may also donate goods and services to be used in promotion of the tournament. Sponsors will receive advertising during the event, including a sign placed in the tee box area.

Registration begins at noon, followed by lunch. The tournament begins with a shotgun start at 1 p.m. and concludes with an awards ceremony and dinner at 6 p.m.
