Message from the Student Body President

Welcome, Class of 2018!

by Tiffany Young, Student Body President

_C9A1277You are now in Bobcat Country! This is a community filled with friendly and diverse students. As you already know, ours is a lovely campus that provides many beautiful backdrops, plus activities for so many of your future memories.

A great way to start your time here at Texas State is to get involved. It is important to find your niche on this campus. We have great organizations that provide endless opportunities. Another great way to be involved is to support our athletic teams. Football season is almost here, and Student Government will be hosting a Freshman Tailgate so you can have your own space and meet new people.

Student Government is always happy to help you with any road bumps you may encounter. As it states in our motto, we are students serving students. Each of our members live by this and we want you to hold us accountable. Our office is located on the fourth floor of the LBJ Student Center in Room 4-5.1. Please feel free to stop by our office and introduce yourself. I’m more than happy to meet each and every one of you. We also have meetings every Monday night in the LBJ Student Center Teaching Theater. I encourage all of you to attend so you can hear what is going on at our university.

Remember that your academics should always remain your number one priority. You are always a student first. Texas State gives you many resources to make sure you succeed. Our famous alumnus, President Lyndon B. Johnson, once said, “The noblest search is the search for excellence.” Every day that you are here at Texas State, pursue excellence, because there is no greater reward than that of success.

I encourage you to take advantage of every opportunity and make the most of your time here at Texas State. Never hesitate to ask questions and never be afraid to take risks. On behalf of Student Government, we are happy to have you be part of our Bobcat family and we hope to see you on campus.

Eat ’em up, Cats!
